Our 20” wheeled HÜTTO TRAIL is perfect for a rider that has outgrown their SKØG or who is needing their first geared bike and wanting to tackle some more aggressive terrain and technical trails. Like the standard HÜTTO, this TRAIL version features the same EPOK™ growing technologies, but is equipped (like the DISC version) with upgraded lightweight wheels with sealed cartridge bearings, super grippy Schwalbe Black Jack offroad tyres, Tektro mechanical disc brakes for even greater control and stopping power, but also adds a pair of 50mm travel Spinner Grind Air suspension forks. HÜTTO TRAIL is the most advanced 20” hard-tail for your little shredder. Whether new to riding, or moving up from our SKØG or another bike, HÜTTO TRAIL is the ultimate bicycle for your child to develop their technical riding on, learning to change gears easily, quickly and safely.
Our HÜTTO TRAIL is as happy off–road in the dirt as it is on the streets. It starts life as a small lightweight pedal bike, which is ideal either as a first geared bike or as a natural progression on from any single geared bike. HÜTTO TRAIL gives your child the chance to gain confidence and develop their cycling skills whilst mastering gears for the first time. Then with our unique patented UP:SCALE growing frame design you can transform the bike into a larger pedal bike as your child grows.
As with all of our UP:SCALE bikes your child doesn’t need to ‘grow into it’ – with HÜTTO TRAIL you ‘dial’ it down to fit them properly from the start, then as they grow and get stronger, the bike frame grows and develops with them. And with our UP:RISE stem extender you can also increase the ‘cockpit’ size of the bike very easily. What this means is that HÜTTO TRAIL (like the all our bikes) fits better, and lasts longer than any other kids’ bike (see for sizing help).
Our patented ‘growing triangle’ frame allows you to dial the bike down to fit now, and then grow with your child.

HÜTTO Size & Modes
HÜTTO TRAIL rolls on 20” wheels and is the second geared bike in the Black Mountain EPOK range. It is aimed at children from around 6 years old, fitting those in the 118cm to 134cm height range, or until they are approximately 8.5 years old (depending on growth rate). HÜTTO TRAIL is the ideal starter bike for kids transitioning from a single speed bike to a fully geared bike. MODE 1
Our HÜTTO TRAIL starts life as a small lightweight pedal bike, which is ideal either as a first geared bike or as a natural progression on from our 16” SKØG. HÜTTO TRAIL gives your child the chance to gain confidence and develop their cycling skills whilst mastering gears for the first time.
MODE 2
As your child grows in size and confidence you simply adjust the UP:SCALE frame system (see here for how this works) to transform HÜTTO TRAIL into a large pedal bike, which increases the frame size by about 20%. This makes the most of the easy rolling 20” wheel size, and means that the bike will last your child longer.
BALANCE MODE (PURCHASED SEPARATELY)
Some children come to cycling a little later in life and can find gears and pedals confusing at the start. So just like our smaller PINTO, SKØG and KAPĒL models you can also set up HÜTTO TRAIL as a balance bike. You can buy the (Note: it does not come as standard).
